Louisa was a daughter of King George II and Queen Caroline, and thus a sister to Amelia. A county named after her was created in 1742, at the same time the General Assembly created Fairfax County.

Cuckoo is famous as the starting point for Jack Jouett's 40-mile ride in 1781 to warn governor Thomas Jefferson and other officials that "the Redcoats are coming." Jouett's journey could have become more famous than Paul Revere's ride from Boston in 1776, but no poet as skilled as Henry Wadsworth Longfellow has tackled the topic - yet.
