When does the class start? Can I prepare in advance?

Geography of Virginia is taught at George Mason University. The Fall session of the class will run from the end of August to submission of the final exam in early December - see the class schedule.

You can register for the course after the semester starts. If you register late, you'll still have to catch up on the material from the first classes. If you miss the first quiz - chill out. You can't "make it up," but I drop the lowest two quiz grades in determining the final class grade.

Things to Do Before Class Starts

  1. check PatriotWeb at https://patriotweb.gmu.edu to confirm you are officially registered for GEOG380 (and if you think there's a problem, check again just before the last date to add the class to confirm you're still registered...)
  2. read the Welcome to Geography of Virginia letter
  3. set aside enough time each week to study the required Geography of Virginia material, according to the class schedule
  4. read the Class Logistics and FAQ's
  5. identify what you hope to learn during the semester (One of the first assignments will be to tell me what you want to get from the class, so I can incorporate that material into the class discussion. You're paying tuition - get your money's worth...)
